Projects RF energy harvesting rectenna

RF energy harvesting rectenna

A rectenna cell that ties in series or parallel, so ambient RF can be harvested off whichever antenna you connect.

Problem

Ambient RF is everywhere and mostly wasted. Harvesting it usually means committing to one antenna and one voltage, which makes a design useless the moment the environment changes.

Approach

Designed and prototyped the harvester as a cell rather than a fixed board, so cells can be wired in series or parallel to reach whatever voltage the load needs. Tested the rectifying circuit against several ultra-wideband antennas to see how much of the available ambient energy each one actually delivered.

Outcome

A harvesting stage that is not tied to a single antenna or a single output voltage.
